Frequently Asked Questions

How is reading time calculated?
Reading time is calculated by dividing the total word count by a reading speed in words per minute (WPM). The average adult reads at approximately 238 WPM for silent reading. We provide estimates for slow (150 WPM), average (238 WPM), fast (350 WPM), and skimming (600 WPM) speeds.
How is speaking time different from reading time?
Speaking time is typically slower than silent reading time. Normal conversational speech is about 150 words per minute, while formal presentations might be 110 WPM. This is useful for podcast scripts, video narration, and presentation planning.
What is a good article length for blog posts?
For SEO-focused blog posts, 1,500-2,500 words (6-10 minute read) tends to perform well. For pillar content or comprehensive guides, 3,000-5,000 words is common. The ideal length depends on search intent — some queries are best answered in 800 words, others need 4,000.
Is my text stored or sent to a server?
No. All analysis happens entirely in your browser. Your text never leaves your device. This tool is 100% client-side.
